A 27-year-old Desert Hot Springs mother was arrested for leaving her infant son in a vehicle while she shopped at Walmart on Wednesday evening. At around 6:48 p.m. Palm Springs police were dispatched to the report of the baby boy left unattended in the vehicle for around 20 minutes.
Upon arrival, the 3-month-old baby was located inside the vehicle that was running with the air conditioner on. The baby was unharmed and will be released to a responsible party.
Police were able to determine that the mother, Selena Gastelo, left the child unattended while she went into the Walmart to shop. Gastelo was arrested at the scene for Child Endangerment.
