APPLE VALLEY, Calif. – Critically missing, Duke Flores, 6, of Apple Valley, has yet to be located after being reported missing by family late Thursday night.
Now, according to inmate records, the boy’s mother, Jackee Raquel Contreras, 29, was arrested on Thursday at around 10:06 p.m., shortly after the child was reported missing. Contreras was arrested for child cruelty and murder. Contreras is being held without bail on the murder charge and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior court on Monday, April 29, 2019, for the child cruelty charge and Tuesday, April 30, 2019, for the murder charge. She is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center in the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
Authorities said on Saturday, that a welfare check was requested at the Apple Valley home by a family member leading to the investigation. Until then, there had been no report of Duke even being missing. His mother, Jackee Contreras, told deputies, who arrived for the welfare check that Duke had not been seen for around two weeks. Jackee was then arrested for child cruelty for her delay in reporting.
The search for Duke continued on Friday with Homicide Detectives at the scene to investigate. K9 units also arrived at the home and interviews were conducted. On Saturday, Jackee was interviewed by Homicide Detectives and she was subsequently booked for murder.
Jackee’s twin sister, Jennifer Rachel Contreras, 29, of Apple Valley, was arrested on April 27, 2019, at around midnight. She was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Murder and Accessory and is being held without bail. She is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
Although details are scarce, what is known at this time has led to speculation and suspicions. The family of Duke said that he had not been since Sunday, April 14, 2019, nearly 2 weeks ago. Reports by residents in the area to 24/7 Headline News indicate that a van was towed from the driveway of the home and that there was a search inside and in the backyard of the home located at 22000 Cherokee Avenue in Apple Valley.
Although Duke’s mother was arrested for Murder, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said that the small child is still listed as missing. The investigation is ongoing.
Detectives are asking anyone with information pertinent to the investigation to contact the Specialized Investigation Division, Detective Narcie Sousa at (909)387-3589 or sheriff’s dispatch at (909)387-8313. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact 800-78-CRIME or www.WeTip.com
