WHITEWATER – On Thursday afternoon a male was ejected from his motorcycle, over the overpass wall, and onto a vehicle, CHP officials said. At around 3:57 p.m. the 28-year-old Yucca Valley man later identified as Eugene Bess Jr. was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle on the transition road from SR-62 southbound to I-10 eastbound.
The driver was thrown from his motorcycle when he was making a left turn on the bridge and the motorcycle drifted to the right striking the concrete bridge wall and railing. This impact caused the male rider to be thrown from his motorcycle, over the concrete wall/railing and onto a 2013 Buick Lacrosse that was on the westbound at the SR-62 overcrossing. After landing on the Buick his body fell onto the freeway.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the five occupants in the Buick sustained injuries. The left two lanes of the I-10 westbound were shut down for around 2 hours while the CHP investigated. CHP officials said that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.
