DESERT HOT SPRINGS – The suspect involved in a Saturday night murder of 37-year-old Edwin Carreto was arrested the following day officials said.
The stabbing was reported at around 10:35 p.m. in the 66500 block of Fourth Street in Desert Hot Springs. When emergency medical personnel arrived they located Carreto dead at the scene as a result of his injuries. Authorities learned that the suspect and Carreto knew each other prior to the incident and were involved in a verbal altercation. Further investigation led to Joseph Arrez being named as the chief suspect in the murder of Carreto.
Joseph Arrez was located and interviewed by the Desert Hot Springs Police on Sunday. Following the interview, Arrez was booked into the Banning Jail for murder and is being held without bail. If you have any information you are asked to contact Detective Tooth at (760) 329-6411 ext. 352
