NEWBERRY SPRINGS – A Newberry Springs man surrenders after barricading himself in a home on Tuesday evening. Deputies responded to the home in the 45000 block of Esperanza Road in Newberry Springs. At around 5:30 p.m. deputies from the Barstow Station received information that Tanan Pruett, 28, who had an active parole violation warrant for his arrest was inside a home in the area.
Deputies requested Sheriff’s aviation to the scene for assistance, while ground units arrived at the home. When they arrived they heard the front door slam shut. As deputies set up a perimeter around the location, deputies could hear large items moving inside the home to barricade the front door of the home. Deputies began PA announcements commanding Pruett to exit the home, but he did not respond.
Due to the circumstances, the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division responded to the location. A search warrant was obtained, but before it was served, Pruett exited the home. He was taken into custody without incident and was booked into jail for the Parole Violation Warrant. Additional criminal charges are pending.
