YERMO – A 41-year-old man was arrested for attempted kidnapping, beating, and carjacking of a 64-year-old woman late Thursday morning.
At around 11:15 a.m. a concerned reporting party called 911 to report that that a man and woman were fighting in the parking lot of a Chevron gas station in the 35000 block of Ghost Town Road in Yermo. The fight escalated and the man, later identified as Mark James Wilson, 41, of Newberry Springs attempted to force the 64-year-old Newberry Springs woman into the vehicle. The reporting party said that he also hit the woman several times, pulled her hair, and then fled in the victim’s car.
Barstow Station deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to the call and made contact with the injured woman who was transported her to a hospital for treatment. An area search was conducted, but the suspect and the stolen vehicle were not immediately located. Wilson was later located at his home and was taken into custody without incident. Wilson was later booked into the HIgh Desert Detention Center for kidnapping, carjacking and a violation of his parole. The victim’s vehicle was returned to her.
