VICTORVILLE, Calif. – One person is deceased, and a second is injured following an Victorville traffic collision.
On Saturday, March 30, 2019, at around 11:08 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station and Victorville fire personnel responded to the report of a two-vehicle traffic collision near Air Expressway and George Boulevard. When they arrived they learned that the Honda sedan was traveling westbound on Air Expressway at a high rate of speed and the GMC SUV was traveling eastbound on Air Expressway. For reasons that remain under investigation, the driver of the Honda, 21-year-old Adelanto resident, Virgil Solis, lost control and drove into oncoming traffic, colliding with the GMC.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the GMC sustained only minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Air Expressway, between Phantom East and George Boulevard, were closed during the investigation and reopened at approximately 05:07am.
MAIT Investigators are continuing the investigation into the collision and the cause is currently unknown. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Deputy A.
