HESPERIA – One person is deceased and two were airlifted to trauma centers after a pursuit ended in a traffic collision on Monday morning.
At around 10:00 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a silver/light blue Honda Civic that was speeding west on Main Street near 11th Avenue. The vehicle pulled into a Rite Aid parking lot, as if he was attempting to stop, but continued on through the parking lot and onto 11th Avenue. The vehicle continued northbound on 11th Avenue. “As the suspect vehicle was approaching Willow, he veered into southbound lanes and struck a black Volkswagon traveling southbound at 11th occupied by a male and female adult,” said San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jodi Miller. “The pursuit lasted less than a minute before the suspect vehicle collided into the black Volkswagon.”
The driver of both vehicles were not conscious when emergency medical personnel reached the vehicle, and the suspect, only identified as a 26-year-old Victorville man was later learned to be deceased. The driver of the second vehicle, a female identified asAna Ramirez de Franco, 49 was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center and her passenger, identified as Jose Barba Franco, 44 was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with multiple fractures to the arm and leg. Hesperia Junior High School surveillance captured the traffic collision. The suspect vehicle was reported stolen out of the City of Victorville.
All four intersections leading to the collision site have been shut down and will remain closed for several hours for the investigation. The story is still developing, additional information will be updated when it is received.
