VICTORVILLE, Ca. – Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle traffic collision that killed one of the drivers and injured two others.
On Sunday, September 8, 2019, at around 10:37 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station and emergency medical personnel responded to the traffic collision on National Trails Highway, north of the 15 freeway in the City of Victorville. When they arrived they found the two vehicles a white Nissan Armada and a red Ford Flex badly damaged from a head on collision.
Through investigation it was learned that the Nissan was driving southbound on National Trails Highway toward the 15 freeway, while the Ford was driving northbound on National Trails Highway from the 15 freeway. For reasons that remain under investigation, the Nissan crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Ford. Kenya Williams, 45, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was driving the Nissan and was airlifted for treatment of moderate injuries. The Ford driver died at the scene of the collision, while the adult male passenger was airlifted and is in critical condition.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but it is still unknown why the Nissan crossed into opposing lanes. Deputies are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. National Trails Hwy in the area of the collision was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputies A. Hylin or A. Ramos at the Victorville Police Station.
