One Dead, One Wounded, and No Suspects in Custody Following Bakersfield Shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Authorities are attempting to identify the suspect who shot two people, killing one on Friday.

At around 11:17 p.m. deputies responded to the 1200 block of Barlow Street in the City of Bakersfield. Carlos Ramiro Venegas, 40, of Bakersfield, was transported to the hospital and died as a result of his injuries. The second person suffered moderate injuries and was taken to hospital.

No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is urged to call the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110 or the Secret Witness Line at 661-322-4040.
