RIVERSIDE – The 17-year-old female occupant of a white 2000 Honda Civic was killed in a Monday morning traffic collision officials said. At around 4:50 p.m. Riverside Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the single-vehicle traffic collision on Market Street near Second Street.
Through investigation, it was learned that the 18-year-old driver, a Riverside resident was driving south on Market Street when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree near Second Street. The driver was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene to investigate. The investigation is ongoing, but alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision.The name of the deceased will be released once family.
