SAN JACINTO – The owner of a distressed dog who was left inside a vehicle at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto on an approximately 100 degree day was arrested officials said.
On Saturday, July 14, 2018, at around 11:48 a.m., officers were dispatched to the casino located in the 23300 block of Soboba Road for the distressed dog in the locked vehicle. The casino security attempted to locate the owner of the vehicle to no avail, leaving the officers with no choice but to force entry. The owner was located and arrested about an hour later. Although the dog was clearly in distress, he is expected to fully recover thanks to the quick action of Soboba Casino Security and the San Jacinto Police officers.
California law makes it illegal to leave a pet inside a vehicle when the conditions can endanger the health of the animal. Studies have shown when the outside temperature reaches 100 degrees, the interior temperature of the vehicle will reach around 172 degrees.
