PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – A Palm Springs man who was out of jail on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) was arrested for PRCS violation and felony reckless evading on Friday.
At around 12:14 a.m., Palm Springs Police responded to the 300 block of Rosa Parks Road regarding reports of gunshots heard in the area. Officers arrived to the area and saw a vehicle driving with the headlights turned off. The driver, Tamayo Martinez, 30, turned his vehicle around and attempting to evade officers. He violated several vehicle codes while evading police then stopped on Rosa Parks Road. He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a firearm holster, but no firearm.
Martinez was booked at the Smith Correctional Facility for Felony Reckless Evading and PRCS violation. Palm Springs Police officials said that they are not sure if the call reporting gunshots related to Martinez at all. The public is urged to contact the Palm Springs Police Department at 760-323-8116 if you locate an unattended firearm in a public place.
