PALMDALE, Ca. – A Palmdale Station Deputy saved the life of a male subject who was suffering from an injury leading to excessive blood loss on Sunday.
On Sunday, January 26, 2020, deputies and emergency personnel responded to a report of a medical emergency in the 900 block of E Avenue Q in the City of Palmdale. The caller stated that the adult male was suffering from uncontrollable bleeding from his arm due to a prior medical procedure. The family of the patient attempted to stop the bleeding by using a belt to stop the blood flow.
When the deputies arrived they noticed that excessive amount of blood loss and the patient slipping in and out of consciousness. One of the responding deputies, Deputy Garcia applied a tourniquet from his duty belt to the patient’s left arm. The tourniquet stopped the major blood flow, saving the patients life. Emergency medical personnel arrived to transport the patient. The patient required surgery, which was successful.
On Monday, January 27, 2020, Deputy Garcia went to drop by and visit the patient who was in the hospital recovering. The patient expressed his gratitude to Deputy Garcia for saving his life.
