PALMDALE – A 23-year-old Palmdale man pleaded no contest on Tuesday after kicking two Chihuahuas causing serious injuries to both. On August 31, 2015, Andres Garcia kicked two dogs at his Palmdale home, causing on dog to require euthanization as a result of its injuries.
While attacking the dogs Garcia’s family called 911 due to the inability to stop him from the attack. When deputies arrived, Garcia swung one of the dogs at the deputy.
Garcia is scheduled for sentencing on April 19th at the Antelope Valley Superior Court. Los Angeles County District Attorney officials said that Garcia pleaded guilty to one felony count of animal cruelty and is expected to be sentenced to time served. In addition to the 489-day time served sentence, Garcia will be on felony probation for five years, have 30 days of community service, will be ordered to attend 48 animal cruelty counseling sessions and be prohibited from owning any animal for 10 years.
