SAN JACINTO – Over a year after a 22-month-old toddler was found deceased in her San Jacinto home, her parents were arrested for her death. On February 18, 2016, deputies from the San Jacinto Station responded to a medical emergency in the 800 block of Main Street.
When they arrived they located the small child unresponsive inside the home. Medical personnel responded to the scene and attempted to resuscitate the child, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff’s from the San Jacinto Station and Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide investigated the death of the child.
The investigation led to the arrest of the child’s mother, Tamara Barker, 23, and her father, Malick Harris, 24. The two were arrested on Monday, March 6, 2017, at their home in the 300 block of East Boxelder Road in the City of Gillette, Wyoming. The two were arrested without incident and were transported the Campbell County Sheriff’s Detention Center where investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit.
Both Harris and Barker were booked into jail for child abuse resulting in death. They are being held at the Campbell County Sheriff’s Detention Center pending extradition to Riverside County.
