VICTORVILLE – A pedestrian walking on El Evado Road near Palmdale road way struck and killed on Wednesday authorities said. On Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at around 2:14 a.m. deputies from the Victor Valley Station and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene to find the involved white Toyota Sequoia pulled to the side of the road and a pedestrian lying in the roadway.
Through investigation it was revealed that the Toyota was driving south on El Evado Road and struck the pedestrian crossing El Evado Road from the west to east outside of the crosswalk south of Palmdale Road. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the Toyota was not injured. MAIT Investigators responded to the scene to investigate. The investigation is ongoing, the cause of the collision is yet to be determined. El Evado Road was closed between Palmdale Road and Anacapa Road for around 6 hours and was reopened at around 8:00 a.m.
The name of the deceased pedestrian is being withheld so that family could first be notified. Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy Jeffrey Dean at the Victorville Police Station (760) 241-2911.
