PHELAN – Over a month following a dangerous situation where a deputy fired his service weapon toward a vehicle he believed was attempting to hit him an arrest has been made. On Saturday, November 25, 2017, at around 12:12 a.m. a Victor Valley Station deputy attempted to stop a Ford sedan in the area of Phelan and Sunny Vista Roads.
The vehicle yielded and the deputy got out of his patrol vehicle to approach the vehicle to make contact with the driver. Suddenly as he approached the vehicle, the vehicle went into reverse quickly toward the deputy. The deputy fired at the vehicle and the driver fled the area. The deputy attempted to pursue the vehicle, but eventually collided with a dirt berm, losing the vehicle. The driver was only described at the time as a white man who was wearing a hat.
On December 28, 2017, detectives were provided a tip indicating that Jeremy Lambourne, 37, of Phelan was the suspect involved in the incident. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Enforcement Division (SED), surveilled his home in the 6800 block of Sunset Road in Pinon Hills. Lambourne was contacted, detained and subsequently interviewed leading to his arrest. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for the assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.
