PHOENIX, Az. – A Phoenix mother admitted to taking the lives of her three children who were all under 4-years-old, authorities said.
The children were found deceased in the home, all on the sofa with no obvious signs of abuse or other trauma. Rachel Henry, their 22-year-old mother, who had recently moved from Oklahoma admitted to the killing and was subsequently arrested. Henry is btin held in lieu of $3 million bail for three counts of first-degree murder, one each for her three-year-old son, 23-month-old daughter, and her 7-month-old daugher.
Authorities said that the mother is accused of using methamphetamine and they are looking into the possibility of postpartum depression and/or postpartum psychosis. Phoenix police said that the mother and three children lived with their 30-year-old father and another relative, both who were not home at the time of the killing.
The Department of Child Safety in Arizona officials said that they never had a report against Henry but there was at least one report in the State of Oklahoma. The children were removed from the home by the Coroner who will determine their cause of death. Henry is scheduled to return to court on Friday, January 31, 2019.
