A prisoner transport officer was arrested for the sexual assault of female prisoners. Eric Scott Kindley, 49, operates “Special Operation Group 6”, a company that contracts with jails throughout the country to transport inmates who have been arrested on out-of-state warrants. Kindley was arrested in Stockton, California after being accused of assaulting females in his custody, who he allegedly threatened with a firearm while doing so.
The case that is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation alleges that from January through may 2017, Kindley engaged in sexual misconduct in his Dodge Caravan with three different prisoners on three separate occasions. The three transports included one each from California to Arizona, Alabama to Arizona, and Mississippi to New Mexico. All victims claimed that they were handcuffed and restrained. They were then taken to a secluded location where they were sexually assaulted by Kindley. During the assault, Kindley threatened the victim with his gun and told them that he would get away with it because no one would believe them. “The probable cause affidavit further alleges that during the transports, Kindley bragged to the victims about sexually assaulting other female prisoners during prior transports,” FBI officials said.
Kindley was in court on Friday and the Sacramento federal judge ordered that he was detained for the week, pending potential transport to Phoenix, Arizona from where the complaint was issued. This investigation remains ongoing.
