CALIFORNIA – The Kroger Co. expanded their May 2016 recall on sunflower products today due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination the company said. The possible contamination was passed on to them by their supplier, SunOpta
Products recalled include Kroger Sunflower Salad Toppers, Kroger Sunflower Kernels, and Kroger Cranberry Delight Trail Mix with the date codes provided.
The Kroger Co. goes by many names in many different states, two of those are known by Californians are Ralphs and Food 4 Less. Other company names and states that sell some of these products are Kroger, Jay-C, Dillons, Bakers, Gerbes, King Soopers, City Market, Fry’s, and Smith’s. Products can be found in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
No consumer illnesses have been reported as a result of product consumption to date but the items have been removed from the shelves as a precaution. Kroger is also asking customers who have purchased these products to return them to the store for a full refund or replacement. If any consumers have questions or concerns they are asked to contact Kroger at 1-800-KROGERS, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 am EDT and Saturday through Sunday 8:00 am to 9:00 pm EST.
