RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – Detectives with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect who shot at a woman at a 76 Gas Station.
On March 8, 2019, at around 12:28 a.m., a 30 to 40-year-old Hispanic man approached the victim’s vehicle at the gas station located in 6760 Carnelian Avenue in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. The woman was pumping gas into her vehicle as she sat in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. He attempted to open the driver’s side door and told the victim to get out of the car. “The victim put her vehicle in reverse and drove out of the parking lot,” Rancho Cucamonga Police officials said. “The suspect brandished an unknown type handgun and fired five rounds at the victim’s vehicle striking it three times.” The victim was not injured as a result of the shooting.
The suspect, who is described as around 5’07” tall and weighing around 140-160 pounds got into a newer Kia Forte and traveled south on Carnelian Avenue. He was last seen wearing dark, baggy pants and a green and grey camouflage jacket. Following the incident, the suspect was captured on video surveillance when the suspect entered the gas station. The suspect is wanted for attempted carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting at an inhabited vehicle.
Detectives are releasing a surveillance picture of the suspect and his vehicle. If anyone recognizes the suspect, or has information related to this case; they are urged to contact the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, Detective Division.
