A Rancho Cucamonga man was arrested for at least two Riverside County robberies, officials said,
On Thursday, May 23, 2019, at around 7:15 a.m., deputies from the Perris Station responded to the report of an armed robbery that had just occured. When deputies got to the Circle K Store located in the 19000 block of Harvill Avenue in the City of Perris they made contact with the store clerk and other witnesses.
Through investigation they learned that two suspect entered the store with a semi-automatic firearm. They demanded cash from the clerk, who complied and fled the area in a 2009 Chevy Malibu with an undisclosed amount of cash. One of the witnesses that the deputies made contact with provided them with a possible license plate for the suspect vehicle.Using all investigative leads, deputies were able to determine that the same two suspects committed an additional robbery in the City of Riverside earlier the same day,’
Using the information provided by the suspects, with the help of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, they began surveillance of the suspect’s Rancho Cucamonga home. On Friday, May 24, 2019, at around 9:45 a.m., a search warrant was served on the 10200 block of Effen Street in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. Just as Ricardo Velazquez was leaving the home in the suspect vehicle, he was detained. He was found to be in possession of a loaded semi automatic handgun.
Additional evidentiary items related to the robbery were located in his vehicle and residence. Velazquez was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for first degree robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), and related charges. The second suspect has not yet been identified.
