RANCHO CUCAMONGA – At around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, a Rancho Cucamonga homeowner returned home to find that his front door was open. As he approached the door of the home in the 11600 block of Brindisi Way, shots were fired at him from inside the house. He went back to his vehicle, grabbed his gun and fired back at the suspect, who was inside of his house. He then went away from the door to call 911.
Shortly after the call, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Station arrived and set up a perimeter.
“Believing the suspect may have been barricaded inside the residence, Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded to the scene,” Sheriff’s officials said in the news release. “They made announcements with a loudspeaker to have the suspect come out. After no response, SED personnel cleared the residence with the assistance of a robot.”
The home was cleared and the scene was processed for evidence. The investigation into what authorities are now calling an interrupted burglary in progress is ongoing and no suspects are in custody.
