RANCHO CUCAMONGA – The Rancho Cucamonga community is mourning the tragic loss of a 17-year-old Los Osos High School student.
The teen, now identified by Los Osos High School staff as Emily Gold, ended her life on Friday, September 13, 2024, shortly before 11:50 p.m. Per CHP incident logs, numerous reporting parties reported that Gold had jumped off the overpass landing in the carpool lane of the 210 East, just east of Haven Avenue. Several vehicles struck the body of the teen, with none stopping until about 11:57 p.m. when a good Samaritan stopped to wait with the lifeless body of the teen.
All lanes of traffic were closed at 12:00 a.m. with the #2 and #3 lanes reopened at 12:12 am, per CHP reports. According to Los Osos High School’s official statement, Gold, a senior, was part of both the Varsity Cheer Squad and a Dance Team Captain this year. Counselors will be available at the school’s Wellness Center, Room D118.
“Please keep Emily and her loved ones and friends in your thoughts and prayers. I’m also available if you need to reach out to me”, said Los Osos High School Principal Eric Cypher in a written statement.
