HESPERIA, Calif. – A Hesperia man was arrested for brutally beating his girlfriend after deputies received a report of a person “beat up” at the home.
On Sunday, April 7, 2019, at around 3:35 p.m., deputies responded to the home in the 14100 block of Olive Street in the City of Hesperia. When they arrived they learned that the reporting party found the female victim at the home injured as a result of her boyfriend assaulting her. The reporting party said that the suspect, later identified as Jacob Masana, 33, of Hesperia, would not let him leave the home but he was able to eventually get out of the house.
Deputies arrived to find Masana outside of the home. A record check revealed that Masana was on felony probation. Masana was detained without incident. “ Deputies learned that Masana became upset at the victim and punched her multiple times in the face, causing her to fall to the ground,” said Hesperia Sheriff Station Spokesman Edgar Moran. “Masana then got on top of the victim, choked her, and bit her in the face and chest.” The female victim was eventually able to break free from the suspect and run out the front door. Masana went outside, grabbed the victim by her hair, and pulled her back inside.
The victim had two swollen eyes, bite marks, and abrasions all over her body. Jacob Masana, who was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) at the time of the incident, was arrested for false imprisonment and assault on a spouse or cohabitant. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center where he is being held without bail.
According to San Bernardino County Court records Masana has a history of violent crimes with convictions for domestic violence, false imprisonment, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon, and battery with serious bodily injury in 2005, 2006, 2015, and twice in 2017.
