FONTANA – A Rialto man was arrested after a traffic stop led to him hitting the officer and his motorcycle on Tuesday afternoon. At around 2:45 p.m. a motorcycle police officer from the Fontana Unified School District Police Department attempted to stop a silver Chevy Camaro near Foothill Boulevard and Mango Avenue.
The vehicle stopped, but the driver, Gabriel Sierra was uncooperative. He put his vehicle in reverse, accelerating rapidly. He struck the officer then hit his motorcycle. When he moved forward, he dragged the motorcycle for around 25 feet and went northbound on Mango Avenue. At some point, he left the vehicle and fled from the vehicle on foot.
At around 5:17 p.m. officers located Sierra as he left his home in the 200 block of S. Linden in the City of Rialto. He was taken into custody and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer as well as outstanding warrants. The Fontana Unified School District officer was treated at the scene for a leg injury.
