BLOOMINGTON, Ca. – A freeway shooting in the City of Bloomington on Wednesday morning led to an arrest for assault with a deadly weapon.
At around 10:45 a.m. dispatchers received multiple calls of a Hispanic man standing on the right shoulder of the westbound I-10 freeway , east of Cedar Avenue. The man, according to reports was pointing what appeared to be a handgun at passing vehicles. He fired the weapon, which was later learned to be a BB gun at several vehicles. Several vehicles were hit and causing body and other damage to the vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the area and located the suspect, Devhen Douglas Evans, 29, and resident of Rialto, still standing on the right shoulder of the freeway. When he noticed the approaching CHP vehicles, he dropped the weapon and attempted to flee the area on foot. He was quickly taken into custody and now faces multiple charges in connection with the incident.
