Rialto Man Arrested for Fontana Burglary and Attempted Rape

Fontana, Calif. – A Rialto man who was recently released from jail for burglary was rearrested after leaving his personal information at the scene after the attempted sexual assault of a woman in her home on Tuesday.

The incident was reported in the 16000 block of Pennard Lane in the City of Fontana. The 18-year-old female victim told dispatchers that she awoke to the male suspect who was armed with a knife in her bedroom trying to sexually attack her. The victim screamed for her family to help her which caused the suspect to flee. Officers responded but were unable to locate the suspect.  While investigating at the home, investigators located a booking application on the scene that belonged to the suspect, identified as Flavio Hernandez, 20. Authorities said that the booking application was from the San Bernardino where he was released early from after serving a partial sentence for burglary.

They also learned that Hernandez had entered the victim’s bedroom twice, the first time he left with stolen property placing it where he could return to retrieve it. When he went back he attempted to attack the victim. Once learning his identity, investigators searched for Hernandez and located him in the City of San Bernardino later that day. He was arrested without incident and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Burglary with the Intent to Commit Rape and Probation Violation. He is being held without bail.
