RIVERSIDE – Two suspects were arrested after leading Riverside police on a pursuit late Monday morning. At around 11:30 a.m. officers were driving on the 91 freeway heading to the downtown station. They had an arrested subject in the patrol vehicle when they received a License Plate Reader (LPR) system activation.
Officers followed the stolen vehicle waiting for assisting officers to take over. The officers arrived near the Madison Street overpass and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop causing an eastbound 91 freeway pursuit. The vehicle continued to the 215 coming to a crashing stop at the Washington Street off-ramp in the City of Colton.
The suspect and passenger fled on foot but were quickly apprehended with the help of the air support. Officers learned that the driver had three felony warrants. Both suspects were also found to be in possession of items “consistent with identity theft”, RPD officials said.
The suspect crashed into two vehicles during the pursuit but no injuries were reported as a result of the pursuit. The suspects, 25-year-old Riverside resident, Dustin Robinson, and 32-year-old San Bernardino resident, Amanda Caudel were booked into jail for auto theft, possession of stolen property, identity theft, hit and run and felony evading police.
