RIVERSIDE – A 30-year-old Riverside man was arrested for the murder of an 18-year-old that occurred late last month. On Sunday, August 28, 2016, just before 1:15 a.m. Riverside Police responded to the report of a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. When they arrived, they located the victim, Luis Quintanar in the parking lot of the Central Community Church located in the 5600 block of Arlington Avenue.
Despite the lifesaving efforts by emergency medical personnel, Quintanar died at the hospital as a result of the gunshot wounds. Detectives responded to the scene and learned that the victim was walking in the area with friends when they were approached by the suspect. A physical altercation occurred and the suspect pulled out a gun, shot Quintanar and left the scene.
Investigation of tips made by the public led police to the September 15, 2016, arrest of Thomas Ryan Scott who was subsequently booked into jail for murder.
