RIVERSIDE – An altercation inside a Riverside T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant turned deadly after one of the involved parties retreated to his vehicle to grab two knives.
On Sunday afternoon, just after 4:10 p.m. Riverside Police responded to the report of two men fighting inside of the restaurant located at 3487 Tyler Street. While officers were en route, the fight escalated and the victim went outside. The suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Denzel Cooley of Riverside returned from his vehicle with two knives, which he used to stab the victim multiple times authorities said.
The victim was rushed to the hospital by his family, while the suspect was rushed to the same hospital by his family to the same hospital for a laceration on his arm. Life-saving measures were administered to the victim, but he died as a result of his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The suspect’s injuries are non-life-threatening and was treated, released, and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time. This is still an on-going investigation and detectives believe there may be additional witnesses to this incident.
