REDLANDS – The family of 22-year-old Moreno Valley resident Kevin Decatur who lost his life to murder is finding some solace in a sentence handed down to those responsible for his murderer.
The shooting killing Decatur occurred outside of the former Cancun Bar and Grill nightclub in the City of Redlands on January 20, 2013. Decatur and the suspect(s) had a verbal altercation while he performed at the club earlier that evening.
Rubidoux resident, 27-year-old Anthony Tolbert was handed down a 120-years to life in state prison sentence this week. Tolbert was found guilty by a jury in December 2015.
In addition to Tolbert’s conviction and sentencing, Jamal Duncan or Rubidoux and Michael Singh of Corona were also found guilty of murder and street terrorism with sentencing enhancements relating to street terrorism and the use of a firearm.
On March 20, 2017, Singh was sentenced to 135 years in prison, while Terryl Morris, 36, of Riverside who was found guilty of accessory after the fact was sentenced to 10 years and 8 months in prison. On March 22, 2017, Duncan was sentenced to 80 years to life in state prison.
