SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – A San Bernardino man was arrested for leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit and standoff on Thursday night.
At around 10:30 p.m. deputies attempted to stop 40-year-old Juan Sanchez for a traffic violation in the area of State Street and Highland Avenue in the City of San Bernardino. Sanchez continued on leading deputies on a pursuit with speeds of over 100 mph.
Authorities said that Sanchez stopped the vehicle in the 2100 block of Palmetto Avenue in the City of Ontario. Deputies ordered Sanchez to get out of the vehicle as they slowly approached the vehicle. Sanchez refused to get out of the vehicle and told the deputies that he would shoot himself. As a result of the situation escalating, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department SWAT team responded to the scene.
