FONTANA, Ca. – A San Bernardino Middle School teacher was arrested for possession of child pornography late last week.
The Department of Justice officials said that Josue Gamaliel Vidal Quintanilla, 28, of Fontana, a math teacher at Shandin Hills Middle School was arrested on Wednesday for multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of child pornography. Quintanilla was arrested during a search warrant at his home located in the City of Fontana, when he admitted to using various social media platforms to send, receive and possess child pornography.
Through investigation it was learned that Vidal used Kik Messenger and Snapchat for the past year to send and receive child pornography. In addition, investigators learned that Vidal posed as a juvenile boy to solicit children as young as 10-years-old to engage in sexually explicit behavior as recently as the night prior to his arrest.
“A preliminary search of Vidal’s Toshiba laptop revealed approximately 20 image files depicting the sexual exploitation of children, as well as multiple video files with titles indicative of child pornography,” according to the affidavit by an HSI special agent. “Similarly, I conducted a preliminary review of online accounts that Vidal consented for me to search, and I found communications that Vidal engaged in where he sent and received child pornography images and videos as well as sent hyperlinks to downloadable child pornography videos.”
Vidal is facing federal charges including transportation of child pornography and possession of child pornography. He may face up to 40 years in prison if convicted of the possession of child pornography charge and up to five years for the transportation charge.
The ongoing investigation in this case is being conducted by HSI and the Fontana Police Department. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department provided substantial assistance in this investigation.
