SEGUIN POLICE, TX. – A Texas woman was arrested after police discovered her mother’s skeletal remains in their shared home authorities said.
On Sunday, July 7, 2019, Seguin Police responded to a home on the 900 block of Anderson Street for a Child Protective Services investigation. The investigation involved a resident Delissa Crayton and her disabled teen daughter who lived in the home with Delissa’s mother. While at the home, police found the skeletal remains. Authorities believe that the remains found at the home were those of Jacqueline Louise Crayton, the mother of Delissa Crayton, the 47-year-old suspect.
The remains were sent with the Texas State University’s Forensic Anthropology Center who assisted with the initial crime scene to identify the remains. Delissa Crayton and her daughter, who was under 15 years old were living in the home for around 3 years with Jacqueline’s remains in the next room. Delissa and her daughter shared the other room of the two-bedroom home, authorities said.
The child has been placed with family members and is receiving services from the Seguin Police Department Crime Victim’s Liaison, Guadalupe County Child Advocacy Center, and Child Protective Services. This is an ongoing and active investigation being conducted by Seguin Police Department, the Texas Rangers and the Guadalupe County Attorney’s Office. Additional charges are anticipated.
Delissa Navonne Crayton, 47, of Seguin, was arrested on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at around 3:30 p.m.for Injury to a Child under the age of 15 through recklessly by omission.
She is currently being held at the Guadalupe County Jail on a $200,000 bond. This offense is a second-degree felony punishable by imprisonment from 2-20 years and a fine up to $10,000.
