VICTORVILLE – A small child was struck by a vehicle at the Victorville Walmart (west) shopping center on Sunday afternoon. At around 2:04 p.m. a white vehicle, possibly a newer model Toyota Corolla hit a small child and fled the scene of the Walmart parking lot located at 12234 Palmdale Road.
The vehicle fled the parking lot, heading westbound on Palmdale Road. A witness ran after the vehicle to attempt to capture the license plate of the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle was reported to have Riverside Car Sales paper plates and was reportedly driven by Hispanic man witnesses said. One witness captured a photo of the suspect vehicle showing the registration slip in the window of the vehicle.
The child was described to be approximately 5-years-old and appeared to be shaken up but overall in stable condition. The sheriff’s helicopter was requested to assist in locating the driver but was later canceled. It is unclear if the suspect vehicle was located, but deputies did stop at least one vehicle as a result of this incident.
The story is still developing at this time, information will be updated as it becomes available.
