RIVERSIDE – The son of a missing Riverside woman was arrested for her murder authorities said.
On Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at around 3:40 a.m., the common law husband reported Mica Maddock, 52, of Riverside missing from her home in the 5800 block of Fair Isle Drive, in the Sycamore Canyon neighborhood. He told Riverside police officers that he saw her the prior evening and when he returned home in the early morning on Wednesday she was gone. He tried calling her, but she did not answer or return the calls. Later in the morning, she did not show up at work, which was out of character for her.
Authorities followed up on leads and at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at around 4:30 p.m., her vehicle was located occupied by her son, Aaron Allen Aubrey, 24, a Riverside transient. Aubrey was detained as a person of interest in Mica Maddock’s disappearance. That night he was booked into jail for auto theft, identity theft, and violation of parole.
Homicide detectives used bloodhounds to search near the base of Box Springs mountain, in an area Aubrey was known to frequent. At around 11:00 a.m. the body of an adult woman was found in close proximity to Gernert and Pettegrew Roads. The body was later confirmed to be Mica Maddock. Her cause of death is still under investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff – Coroner’s office.
As a result, a murder charge has been added to Aubrey’s charges. This investigation is still ongoing and no other details are available at this time.
