BAKERSFIELD, Ca. – A stabbing victim was found dead after a crash that occurred while rushing her to the hospital on Thursday, authorities said.
At around 1:47 a.m. Kern County police learned that a stabbing occurred in the 1100 block of East 9th Street in the City of Bakersfield. While en route they learned that the female victim was on her way to the hospital in a private vehicle. While en route to the hospital, the vehicle transporting her was involved in a collision on Mt. Vernon Avenue and Niles Street. Police arrived at the scene to provide medical aid and determined that the stabbing victim had died, most likely as a result of the stabbing. Police do not believe that the traffic collision led to her death/
Homicide investigator responded to the 1100 block of East 9th Street to assume the stabbing investigation. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the traffic collision. The name of the stabbing victim has not been released.
