VICTORVILLE – Walking into the relaxed ambiance, the six of us, two adults and four children (ages 8-13) did not know the delicious, filling and low-cost meal that was awaiting us. Brooklyn Italian Bakery Pizza & Pasta, located in the northwest portion of the Vallarta Shopping Center at 12353 Mariposa Road has mouth-watering, restaurant-quality pizza at prices that simply could not be beat. This mid-size restaurant has been at that Victorville location for just over a year and since has created a buzz in the Victor Valley community.
The second we walked into the restaurant the look of New York with a touch of Italy surrounded us. The waitress attentively greeted us and rather than seating us where it was convenient for her, she told us to sit where we would like to sit. We chose a booth/table combo where the six of us could comfortably sit. Within minutes she walked over with menus and asked if we would like to order drinks. We placed our drink order of water all around since we do not drink soda or other sugary beverages. The water arrived quickly to our table along with straws.
Looking over the menu, although there were a plethora of delicious sounding meals we decided to keep it simple, choosing to have pizza. Not realizing what a 24” Pizza really meant, we figured it should be enough if it was the largest that they sold. The 24” Pizza was only $20 and included two toppings, we added an additional topping for $2 more. The wait for the Pizza was around 20 minutes but the pictures on the walls and two televisions, which were on two different stations kept everyone’s interest.
The waitress came over with a ginormous pepperoni, sausage and mushroom pizza that could have easily fed 8-10 hungry adults. As usual, we served the youngest to oldest. By the time the last serving was served, our 8-year-old son was asking for more. I made sure to get an end piece so I could taste the crust.
The crust was soft, and the taste was perfect, how pizza crust is meant to be. The crust was not greasy, hard, thin or overly dried out but just the right combination of slightly harder french bread like outside with a soft fluffy inside. The toppings were also delicious, fresh-tasting and overall superior to the majority of even higher priced Pizza restaurants. When everyone ate all they desired the waitress brought a take-home box, which was filled with nearly a whole medium-to-large size pizza.
From youngest to oldest, we all agreed that Brooklyn Italian Bakery Pizza & Pasta made some of the best pizza that any of us have ever had. The bill was just over $23 and with tip included we managed to feed six for under $30 with nearly an entire pizza left to bring home. The price was lower than the franchise fast-food type pizza restaurants but provided the quality of a far-more-costly Italian restaurant.
