SYLMAR – A 21-year-old Tarzana man was arrested after attempting to sell illegal fireworks in Sylmar on July 3rd the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said.
The illegal fireworks were homemade fireworks that were being sold online. Shant Aslanian allegedly attempted to make a sale at a gas station near Roxford Street and the Golden State Freeway officials said. The business was evacuated and the freeway was partially shut down as a result of this transaction.
Shant Aslanian was arrested for one felony count of each of possession of a destructive device: bomb of unknown caliber; possession of ingredients to make a destructive device; and sale or transportation of a destructive device.
Bail is set at $500,000 and if convicted as charged, Aslanian faces four years in state prison.
