VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A 16-year-old boy was arrested for the armed robbery of two victims he met on OfferUp, authorities said.
On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, deputies from the Victorville station responded to the report of an armed robbery in the 16500 block of Seneca Road. Deputies learned that the suspect advertised a phone for sale on OfferUp and met with the potential buyer at an apartment complex in the 1650 block of Seneca Road. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The victim handed over the money and the suspect fled the location. Deputies conducted an area search, but were unable to find him.
A second armed robbery report was made on Friday, July 5, 2019, at the same apartment complex. The circumstances were similar and the suspect description was the same for both robberies, Sheriff’s officials said. An extensive area search was conducted, but the suspect was not located.
“The investigation continued over the next several days,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “Through the investigation deputies learned the identity of the 16-year-old male suspect and discovered he may be responsible for other similar incidents.” On July 11, 2019, deputies arrested the suspect in the area of Seneca Road and Rodeo Drive, near the apartment complex. He was booked into High Desert Juvenile Detention Center for Robbery.
