BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Authorities located the body of a newborn boy who had allegedly murdered and buried in the backyard of a Bakersfield southwest neighborhood home on Wednesday. The discovery was made when a welfare check was requested at the home by someone who the teen shared concerning information with.
Two of the residents, the grandmother of the baby and a male suspect were arrested at the home in the 5200 block of Shining Crag Avenue, west of Stine Road. Authorities said that the 15-year-old girl gave birth to the baby in the bathroom of their home in November 12, 2018. A male relative collected the live baby from the teen and handed her to the teen’s mother. Court records allege that the mother, Beant Kaur Dhillon, 43, drowned the baby and wrapped the newborn in a trash bag. The child’s body was buried in the area of a flower bed in the backyard of the home.
Authorities said that Dhillon allegedly killed the baby so that the word would not get out about the teen giving birth, which would cause shame to the family. As a result of the discovery and investigation, Dhillon who is a
Jagsir Singh, 47, the husband of Dhillon, was also arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of child cruelty, conspiracy, and aiding a felon. The juveniles who resided in the home, including the teen mother, were taken into protective custody.
