ONTARIO, Ca. – Authorities are attempting to find any other victims to a human trafficking operation in the City of Ontario ran by a Texas man.
At around 2:00 p.m., investigators from the San Bernardino Human Trafficking Task Force began investigating an online advertisement in the City of Ontario advertising a suspected victim. The investigation led undercover police to Ontario in an attempt to locate and make contact with the victim.
The victim, a 19-year-old Texas woman, was found in a motel near the 1800 block of G Street in the City of Ontario. Surveillance was conducted at the location and the woman was identified as the woman in the advertisement. The victim was alone when police made contact with her. She was interviewed, provided with resources, and released.
Through follow-up investigated the following morning and learned that the same victim was again being advertised online. “Believing the victim’s trafficker had located and re-victimized her, investigators began a second undercover operation to locate and contact the victim, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said. “The victim was later found in a motel room located in the 3400 Block of Shelby St. Surveillance was conducted in the area and investigators located a vehicle similar to one seen the day prior. Investigators continued surveillance of the vehicle and watched a lone male exit the motel, enter the vehicle and drive away.” Ontario Police made a traffic stop of the vehicle and identified the driver as Corderic Johnson, 29, of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Johnson was detained and questioned. He was transported to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Station for additional questioning. During his questioning, the victim was contacted and reinterviewed. She was provided with services by a local organization who arranged for her trip back to Texas.
During the interview with Johnson, investigators discovered information supporting his involvement in Pimping and Pandering of the victim. He was taken into custody and booked at West Valley Detention Center for felony violations of Pimping and Pandering of an Adult, with a bail of $100,000.
This investigation is ongoing. Due to interstate travel of the suspect, investigators believe there are other unidentified victims related to this case and are asking that anyone with information related to this investigation, please contact the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force at (909) 387-8400.
