INDIO – A 22-year-old Thousand Palms man was arrested for shooting a 14-year-old girl in the head. On Sunday, May 20, 2018, at around 10:00 p.m. officers from the Indio Police department were dispatched to the area of 81700 Avenue 46 reference the teen suffering from a single gunshot wound to her head. Detectives with the Indio police department responded to assume the investigation.
Through investigation, detectives learned that the victim was traveling in a vehicle near John Nobles Avenue and Monroe Street. Inside the vehicle with her was at least four other juveniles, including a 5-year-old child in the back seat. The suspect fired multiple rounds at the vehicle, striking the vehicle one time in the head. No one else was injured as a result of the shooting, the victim is currently in stable condition. Indio police department detectives were able to identify the suspect as Vincente Manuel Reyes. Reyes is currently on parole for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and has several gang contacts out of Indio. Reyes was located and taken into custody in Cathedral City on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
Reyes was booked into the Indio jail for Attempted Murder, multiple counts of Child Abuse and Child Endangerment, and Violation of Parole.
