VICTORVILLE – Possibly helping to spark interest in manufacturing careers for some students and for others, being a great learning experience, the third annual “Made in the High Desert” career showcase had over 3000 students attend.
The event, which was first initiated by Supervisor Lovingood in 2015, took place on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in the City of Victorville. The students who attended had the opportunities to meet with and learn from manufacturers. The manufacturers talked about the business, careers they offer and the training required to secure employment in the field.
“This event really helps students look at their future and what the opportunities are,” said Apple Valley Unified Schools Superintendent Tom Hoegerman. “This also brings in the business leaders in manufacturing and industry so they can see the students. It allows them to see not only what the high school programs are and what we offer, but it builds the relationships to build further partnerships so that our curriculum is aligned with industry standards as we prepare students for their future.”
For the third year in a row, since 2015, the “Made in the High Desert” event has been a collaboration between San Bernardino County and Victorville Motors.
