APPLE VALLEY – Over 900 marijuana plants were located at a home in the Town of Apple Valley after a single-vehicle traffic collision on Sunday morning.
At around 6:50 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the 14300 block of Navajo Road for a call reporting a vehicle into a home. When they arrived they went to the home to check for any injuries resulting from the collision. When they entered the home they did not find any occupants, but to their surprise, they did find an large indoor marijuana grow. Air conditioning, special lighting, fans, exhaust blowers and air filtering systems were all part of the setup, which helps to control the indoor climate and the odor from coming from the property.
The Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division – Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) were called in to assist with that portion of the investigation. MET investigators were able to serve a search warrant in the home and located 900 plants in various stages of growth inside the home. In order to conceal the high electricity use and avoid costs associated with the marijuana grow, the wiring was re-done to bypass the meter. Personnel from Southern California were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division at (909)387-8400 or NARC-MET@sbcsd.org.
