VICTORVILLE – Two suspects were arrested for the sword stabbing incident that left one man injured last week. At around 1:15 p.m. deputies from the Victorville Station were dispatched to the 12300 block of Bridgewood Lane regarding a stabbing.
They arrived shortly after to find a 24-year-old Victorville man in the backyard suffering from a stab wound to his chest. The victim, whose injury appeared to be non-life-threatening was transported and treated at a local hospital. Authorities believe that the suspect and the victim were involved in a fight which escalated and the suspect grabbed a sword and stabbed the victim. The suspect then fled the scene. Witnesses were able to provide authorities with the suspect and suspect vehicle information. Deputies conducted an area search but were unable to locate the suspect at that time.
The investigation continued leading to the identity of the Samuel Monroy, 35, of Calimesa, as the suspect. He was arrested at his home in the 200 block of E. Avenue L Street in Calimesa and booked into the Central Detention Center. He is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail. In addition to the arrest of Monroy, Kathryn Chatham, 25, a Spring Valley Lake resident, was arrested for being an accessory to the crime. “During the investigation, detectives discovered Chatham was the driver of the white pickup and had knowledge of the stabbing,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “Chatham made no attempt to contact law enforcement after the crime and subsequently drove Monroy to Calimesa.” Chatham is being held at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective M. Gardea at the Victorville Police Department, (760) 241-2911 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 956-5001.
