BARSTOW – Two Barstow men were arrested after a robbery at a Barstow Food 4 Less Store late Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at around 11:45 a.m. Barstow Police responded to the 500 block of East Virginia Way for the report of a strong arm robbery that had just occurred. The reporting party told dispatchers that two black men went into the store and attempted to leave with several food items and two sodas that they had not paid for. The reporting party demanded the items back from the men causing one to assault him and the second to flee in an older red Cadillac. The reporting party was able to give a detailed description of the suspects.
Officers from the Barstow Station responded to the scene and noticed one man who matched the description of one of the suspects in the store parking lot. Officers made contact with the male, later identified as Deion Page, 23, of Barstow. The store manager, who was the victim of the assault was able to identify Page as one of the suspects involved. Page was arrested and transported to the police department. An extensive area search was conducted, but the Cadillac was not located. The vehicle description was broadcasted to all patrol units in the area.
At around 12:00 p.m. deputies located a red Cadillac, which matched the suspect vehicle description near East Virginia Way and Lillian Avenue. Deputies followed the vehicle causing the vehicle to pll to the curb in the 900 block of Carson Street. The vehicle stopped and two men jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby home. The two males were located inside the home. The Food 4 Less Store manager identified Devon Kilgore, 23, as the second suspect involved in the robbery. Kilgore was arrested. The third man was released after it was determined that he was not involved in the incident. Store surveillance which captured the incident was obtained as evidence. Page was booked into jail for Robbery and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Friday afternoon.
