VICTORVILLE – Two gang members, one with a small child in his care, were arrested during a Victorville search warrant officials said.
On Wednesday, December 13, 2017, investigators from the High Desert Regional Gang Team were conducting surveillance on a home located in the 13000 block of Bluegrass Place in the City of Victorville. The investigators had obtained a search warrant that they would soon be executing.
While watching, suspect Bernard Gomez, 26, of Victorville, was seen leaving the home. Investigator attempted to stop the vehicle, but Gomez failed to yield and led deputies on a short high-speed pursuit before stopping the vehicle in the 12000 block of Landmark St. in the City of Victorville. The driver fled on foot and was taken into custody in the backyard of the home.
Gomez was found to be a documented gang member with a Federal no-bail arrest warrant. In the backseat of the vehicle that he fled from, investigators located narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and his girlfriend’s 8-month-old baby. Gomez was booked into jail for Child Endangerment, Sales of Methamphetamine, Evading, Participating in a Criminal Street Gang and a no-bail Federal warrant.
After the arrest and vehicle search, the search of the home in the 13000 block of Bluegrass Place was conducted where several ounces of methamphetamine, with evidence that it was being used for sale, were found. Arthur Martinez, 44, of Victorville, was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. Martinez was booked for Sales of Methamphetamine, Participating in a Criminal Street Gang and Accessory to a crime.
Both Martinez and Gomez were found to have gang ties in the Azusa area.
